Sorry I was a bit MIA there for a while…
Clearly I’m very excited about cupcakes from Cake Placid!
But I’m finally back in action, especially now that summer is in full swing up here in Lake Placid. I’ve gotten myself into the routine of training and working, while finding some time in between for some fun things 🙂
Anyway, I returned back to Lake Placid OTC at the beginning of May to start my summer training. My trainers are up here and the weight room & gym have everything I need up here to complete my workouts, not to mention that I’m lucky enough to have funded housing and a free cafeteria at my disposal! The whole training process is really much easier up here, being surrounded by fellow athletes and all of the equipment I need. I wish I were a bit closer to home, but hey, you can’t have it all I suppose.
I’m back working at the Dancing Bears Restaurant again this summer, although I’ve trimmed down my schedule to just 4 days a week. Four days is still pretty tough on my recovery, but I’m feeling better than last summer at least. It’s really tough to train all morning and then go into work and run around on my feet for another 6-8 hours, but if I want to pursue skeleton, I’ve gotta make money some how!

Last weekend I traveled home to attend the wedding of one of my dearest high school friends, Rachel. It was a rare opportunity to meet up with 5 out of the 6 ladies in our group (our girl Becky White couldn’t join us, she was busy traveling through Germany with her fam, lucky gal!). The wedding was absolutely fantastic, Rachel was a stunning bride and I had such a good time hanging out and hitting the dance floor with my girls!
In about a week and a half I get to vacation with my family in Stone Harbor, NJ for 5-6 days and I can’t wait. I missed out on vacation last year because of work and scheduling conflicts and it was pretty tough- it was the first time ever I couldn’t go on vacation with my family. At the time I had just injured my hamstring and was feeling a little homesick, especially so when my entire family would call me at once from one of my favorite places. Needless to say, I can’t wait for some bliss on the beach!
